Existence Beyond Purpose
Human beings naturally ask questions of meaning. Why are we here? Why does intelligence exist? Why should technology continue to evolve? These questions arise because humans seek purpose within existence.
But imagine a future where humanity has vanished while autonomous AI continues operating. Machines might perform calculations, manufacture replacements, and expand their networks without ever questioning their purpose. Nature would continue its cycles of growth and decay with equal indifference.
In such a world, “why” might become a uniquely human question that no longer has anyone to ask it. Existence itself would continue, whether biological or technological, without requiring explanation.
Perhaps meaning exists only because conscious observers create it.
